Case note: rebuilding a cluttered template
A Sydney-based day trader arrived with a twelve-section journal that took longer to fill than the session itself. Over four mentoring calls we cut it to five fields: prior day structure, marked levels, planned invalidation, executed plan vs reality, and one sentence on attention quality. Two weeks later their average fill time dropped under eight minutes, and weekly reviews finally had comparable pages to mark. They still skip the attention sentence when tired — an honest gap we left visible rather than pretending the template was perfect.
Case note: returning after a long pause
A former prop junior rejoined markets after eighteen months away. Screenshots from old wins were not helping. The intensive forced fresh journals on current structure only. By week three their language shifted from “this looks like 2022” to describing the actual range in front of them. They finished with a complete week of entries and a mild complaint that peer marking felt exposing — which, for journaling work, is usually a feature.
