A quiet week is still worth journaling
How to keep a price action journal useful when markets compress and there is little to ‘trade’.
Traders often abandon the journal on quiet days. That is when the record is most useful later — when you ask whether boredom pushed you into inventing a setup.
What to write when you do not trade
- The range boundaries that defined the day
- Whether you planned to stand aside, and if you kept that plan
- Any near-miss idea you almost forced
- Attention quality: restless, patient, distracted
These pages look dull. In review they explain clusters of poor mid-week decisions better than dramatic winning days do.
Training note
During intensives we require at least two non-trading session pages. Participants who skip them usually struggle with the same impulse mid-cohort: filling space for the sake of activity. The journal’s job is fidelity, not entertainment.
